My name is Aykanush Ter-Pogosyan. I am a proud Alumni of ÓÕ»óÂÜÀò. I started as an ESL student at LACC and earned my AA Degree in Child Development. I then earned my BA and MA degrees from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, CA, majoring in Human Development and specializing in Early Childhood Education, Leadership in Education and Social Change, and Adult and College Teaching.
I worked at LAUSD’s Grant Early Education Center for 17 years as a Head Teacher, Site Supervisor, and Mentor. Working with children ages two to five and serving the parents and the community was a privilege. Being a classroom Mentor with the California Early Childhood Mentor Program and working with LACC students who were completing their student teaching in my preschool classroom led me to a path to becoming a College Professor.
I have been a Professor at LACC since 2011. I started as a part-time, then was hired as a full-time faculty, and now I serve as the Vice-Chair of our Child and Family Studies Department. It is my passion to work as an educator and share my experiences and expertise with students who will be part of the future workforce in the field. I am passionate about what I do and have the privilege to share my enthusiasm with college students and be an inspiration to them. As an immigrant from Armenia, with my family’s support and friends and college professors who believed in me, I could accomplish my dreams despite many challenges and obstacles.
I was married to my wonderful husband, Harut, for 33 years. Unfortunately, he passed away three years ago from cancer. Together, we raised our son, Arshak, who continues his father’s legacy of kindness, caring, and helping people in need. We enjoy hiking, traveling, and spending time with our German Shepherd, Sevook, and the Blue and Gold Macaw, BooBoo. My biggest passion is visiting my Homeland, Armenia, every year and spending time with my family and friends

My name is Mary Skousen-Radford and I have been a Professor of Child Development at ÓÕ»óÂÜÀò since 2000. I greatly enjoy my job, and hope that I communicate this enthusiasm in your classes.
These are some things that you might want to know about me. I graduated from Pacific Oaks College with my M.A in Human Development, my BA from Cal State Los Angeles, and my AA from Pasadena City College. I worked for 7 years in preschool programs in the Pasadena area, 6 years as a middle school science teacher and more than 20 years as a Professor of Child Development
I have a deep commitment to working with children, developmentally appropriate practices, and Constructivism as a teaching/learning model. I am an extremely hard worker, probably because I enjoy working so much.
I have three adult children, and two grandchildren, who have been my greatest teachers. I enjoy traveling during the summers and designing houses and yardscapes and restoring old houses with my husband.

I have been working in Early Childhood Education for over thirty years. I have worked with children from birth to age 7 as a toddler and preschool teacher, developmental kindergarten teacher, kindergarten-1st grade teacher at a charter school, and parent educator. The schools I have worked at have followed a Humanistic philosophy, which means we look at the whole child with an emphasis on social/emotional development.
Since 2010, I have taught higher education at Santa Monica College, UCLA Extension, ÓÕ»óÂÜÀò, West Los Angeles College, and Southwest Los Angeles College. And as of 2023, I am a full-time professor at LACC! I have a BA and MA in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College and an Adult School Credential with an emphasis in Parent Education from UCLA Extension. I serve as the chair of the SCC-CAAEYC committee PlayMatters!, where we advocate for play in children's lives.
On a personal level, I love swimming, yoga, hiking, traveling, and cooking plant-based meals. I have a husband, Fred, and two adult children in their 20s, Spencer and Marlena, and we have two new rescue dogs named Casanova and Betty.
